On 1 July 2014 the 7th Life+ Information Day was held in the Conference-Training Center of the “Nowe Horyzonty” Foundation (located by Bobrowiecka street 9 in Warsaw), organized by National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. This regular event has been created as a forum of experience exchange between beneficiaries implementing LIFE projects. It also gives a chance to present activities implemented in the framework of the projects to numerous potential applicants. LIFE-APIS/PL Project was represented by Anetta Drzeniecka-Osiadacz and Tymoteusz Sawiński from Department of Climatology and Atmosphere Protection.
The assumptions of LIFE program for 2014-2020, as well as the rules for cofinancing by National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management were presented during the conference plenary session. Experience from application and implementation of three chosen LIFE+ projects was presented:
- Endangered species and habitats protection of the Natura 2000 “Ostoja Wigierska” site LIFE11 NAT/PL/000431 (L. Krzysztofiak, Wigry National Park)
- Demo installation for electricity/heat cogeneration with gasification of fuel based on municipal waste and sewage sludge (A. Primus, Investeko S.A.)
- Biodiversity protection in forest areas, including Nature 2000 areas-promotion of best practices (M. Jędrzejewski, Coordination Center for Environmental Projects)
The Organizers enabled also a presentation of the assumptions and acheivements of other projects. 25 projects realized by so far LIFE beneficiaries were presented on stalls, including LIFE-APIS/PL.
Due to the unique character of LIFE-APIS/PL project, covering the important issues of air pollution, and wide range of activity, advanced, innovative methodology our stall attracted a lot of interest among the event participants. The greatest interest aroused in the methodical problems of application of WRF and WRF Chem prognostic models for the Project needs and obtaining operational data. We also shared the experience and solutions developed during the project preparation and early phases of its realisation in cooperetion between University of Wrocław (coordinating beneficiary) and Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Wrocław (associated beneficiary of LIFE-APIS/PL).
