On 6th-9th May 22nd Cartographic School on "Geoinformatics and Atmospheric Science" was held at Książ Castle. The School was organized by the Department of Geoinformatics and Cartography in cooperation with the Department of Climatology and Atmosphere Protection of University of Wrocław. The conference was divided into six thematic panels with the total number of 24 speeches. In addition, a poster session was held where 35 works were presented.
The project LIFE-APIS/PL was represented by Hanna Ojrzyńska, PhD (air quality modeling specialist), who presented a poster Automatic circulation type classification with WRF – an example of Poland (authors: Hanna Ojrzyńska, Maciej Kryza, Kinga Wałaszek, Mariusz Szymanowski). The poster was to present an automatic tool (NCL script) for classification of circulation types basing on meteorological data from WRF model. The air circulation types calendar generated with use of the abovementioned tool is a base for the description of circulation conditions of spatial distributions of meteorological parameters (e.g. air temperature) as well as air pollutants concentrations distribution. Based on the obtained classification of circulation types it is also possible to lead WRF model validation. This tool is also used in the development of our project.
